TL;DR: We don't see or store what you read. All text processing happens locally in your browser. We only collect basic usage analytics to improve the extension.

What Data We Collect

Data We DO Collect:

• Installation Data: When you install the extension (timestamp, Chrome version)
• Usage Analytics: Feature usage (which buttons you click), errors, performance metrics
• Settings: Your preferences (reading speed, theme, font) stored in Chrome sync
• Pro Account Data: Email address and license key (if you upgrade to Pro)

Data We DO NOT Collect:

• ❌ Content of what you read
• ❌ URLs of pages you visit
• ❌ Text you paste into the reader
• ❌ PDF or EPUB files you upload
• ❌ Your browsing history
• ❌ Personal information (unless you provide email for Pro)

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

• Improve the extension (fix bugs, optimize performance)
• Understand feature usage (which features are popular)
• Provide customer support
• Process Pro subscriptions (via FastSpring)
• Send important updates (only for Pro users, only critical updates)

Data Storage

Local Storage: Your settings and preferences are stored in Chrome's sync storage, which syncs across your devices if Chrome sync is enabled.

Server Storage: We only store your email and license key on our servers if you purchase Pro. Payment processing is handled by FastSpring (our payment processor).

Text Processing: All text you read is processed entirely in your browser. We never see it, never store it, never transmit it to our servers.

Third-Party Services

FastSpring (Payment Processing)

If you purchase Pro, your payment is processed by FastSpring. They collect:

• Email address
• Payment information (credit card, PayPal, etc.)
• Billing address

• FastSpring (for payment processing)

Data Retention

• Free Users: Settings stored in Chrome until you uninstall
• Pro Users: Account data retained while subscription is active, plus 1 year after cancellation
• Analytics: Aggregated data retained indefinitely

Security

• HTTPS encryption for all web traffic
• Secure license key validation
• Regular security audits
• Limited data collection (less data = less risk)

Children's Privacy

Ludicrous Read is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us immediately.

International Users

Ludicrous Read is operated from the United States. By using the extension, you consent to data processing in the US.
